Sports Portal proudly support Hobart United's "Score a Goal Against Breast Cancer" campaign

HOBART United Football Club is an incorporated not-for-profit organisation founded seven years ago, and is going from strength to strength.

This year the club will field a number of teams: men’s div 1, men’s div 1 reserve, women’s div 2, boys under-13s [existing] and new in 2009 women’s div 1, youth under-18s and girls under-14s. Through football, renowned as ‘the world game’ (more commonly known as soccer), the club promotes friendship and builds racial harmony,  peace and social integration across communities within Hobart and Brighton areas.

During the 2009 season the club will be raising the profile of breast cancer through football, in its ‘Score a GOAL against Breast Cancer’ awareness program.

The new women’s division 1 team will wear a new pink LEGEA jersey and the reigning men’s division 1 team will wear a pink away LEGEA jersey provided by their sponsors at Sports Portal, who have proudly joined the cause.

The club will donate $5 for every goal scored by the Women’s and Men’s Division 1 Team for Season 2009. The club will seek businesses or individuals to sponsor (either by matching the $5 per goal as committed by the club or increase the donation per goal scored) for this awareness campaign.

Throughout the season the community will be able to make a donation by supporting the club barbecue’s, portion of gate takings and other fundraising events. More details will be posted on the website at www.hobartunited.com

All proceeds are being donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is the only national not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to supporting and promoting high-quality research into the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Initiatives such as the Score a Goal against Breast Cancer make a vital contribution towards allowing the Foundation to continue its work.
